How do I choose the right fiber blowing machine for the job?
When blowing fiber, choosing the right fiber blowing machine from the start is essential. It saves working time, avoids unnecessary trips to collect additional equipment and reduces the risk of having to interrupt an installation. In short, it helps you get the job done efficiently.
Fiber blowing is often carried out in residential areas, street cabinets, drop connections, substations or between chambers. You therefore need to be prepared for different duct sizes, fiber cable types and installation distances.
The right machine primarily depends on:
✅ The outside diameter of the duct
✅ The diameter of the fiber cable
✅ The expected blowing distance
The better you know these three parameters in advance, the easier it is to choose a machine that is neither oversized nor underpowered for the job.
1. Overview: Choose the right Jetting fiber blowing machine for the job
| Machine | Duct, outside diameter | Fiber cable diameter | Typical range | Application / Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TRIGGAIR | (3)-5-7-8 mm | 0.8–3.0 mm | 500 m | Customer drops |
| V0 HD | 3–16 mm | 0.8–6.5 mm | 1500 m+ | Standard FTTH distribution |
| V2 | 7–50 mm | 2.4–16 mm | 3000 m+ | Long runs and main cables in residential areas |
| V3 | 10–63 mm | 4–40 mm | 5000 m+ | Backbone/main cable routes and subducting |
| V4 Grizzon | 10–63 mm | 4–40 mm | 5000 m+ | Demanding installations, subducting and floating. Dual gearing and up to 2,000 N pushing force |
2. Description of each machine
TRIGGAIR

A handheld, air-gun-style blowing machine for very small drop connections, such as FTTH installations from a distribution cabinet to the home. Compact, lightweight and ideal for working with small ducts from 3 to 8 mm.

V0 HD

A flexible, portable machine for FTTH distribution. It handles both small drop connections and longer street-level installations of 1,500 m or more. Suitable for many standard duct sizes up to 16 mm.

V2

A more powerful machine for longer main routes in residential areas or between distribution cabinets. It handles larger ducts and fiber cable bundles and can achieve blowing distances of 3,000 m+ under suitable conditions.

V3

The most powerful option for very large main cables, backbone networks and subducting. It handles ducts up to 63 mm and fiber cables up to 40 mm, making it ideal for network expansion projects and long routes exceeding 5 km.

V4 Grizzon
The most powerful machine in the range, designed for demanding cable installations. The V4 Grizzon handles ducts from 10 to 63 mm and cables from 4 to 40 mm. With dual gearing and up to 2,000 N pushing force, it is particularly well suited for heavy-duty installations, subducting, floating and push/pull applications.

3. Checklist: What you should always check before heading to the job site
o avoid bringing the wrong equipment and to ensure a smooth start at the installation site, ask the customer or project manager:
1. What is the outside diameter of the duct? This determines whether the machine physically fits the duct.
2. What is the diameter of the fiber cable? Choosing the wrong machine for the cable diameter can cause problems during installation.
3. What distance does the cable need to be blown? Is it a short drop, an intermediate route or a long run? The distance determines the required machine capacity and pressure.
You should also bring the correct size ductclamp, cable guide and cable sealing, components for the machine, fiber cable and duct.
Planning ahead with these three pieces of information saves unnecessary travel, wasted time and potential installation issues. With the right equipment in your vehicle from the start, you can complete the job efficiently and professionally and move on to the next fiber blowing job.
